Small group discussions are such a good way to get to know people. I've seen book club talks bring out surprising revelations and insights.

This is a multi-media "book" club.

This is a "book" club designed to be easy to access, no matter where you are in the world (and how hard it might be to get physical books in hand). Most of the materials we consume will be available electronically.

We'll have a focus TOPIC to look at through whichever format(s) makes sense:

Books, articles, podcasts, videos .... We'll look from different angles too: children's picture books, articles, and interviews can all be poignant gateways to rich discussion.

We'll cover timely topics for the international schools community.

Our topics will vary across several themes relevant to international schools staff and families, such as

• Colonialism in international schools;
• Identity formation in globally mobile teens;
• Easing the pain of transition;
• Hands-on activities for processing;
• Readers' choice - if there's a topic you're longing to dig deeper into or discuss with more people, let me know.

How it works:

We’ll have something to “read” (or watch/ listen) each month, with a live group discussion about it. The discussion time will depend in part on where all the participants are.

Can't make it live? No problem, you can still join in the discussion through the Facebook group (or email or WhatsApp if you're not a FB person).

Not sure you have time to do the reading? Don't worry.

1. There's no "naughty chair" for those who didn't read (as my local book club ladies joke about). 🤣 I'll have some questions ready to include everyone in our discussion.

2. A lot of the materials won't take nearly as long as reading a whole book.

Why do I have to pay? I've never paid for a book club before.

I know, me neither.

But it turns out that designing a multi-time-zone, recurring gathering, and making sure our discussions have quality questions, while making it all as simple & easy for you as possible, takes a fair amount of admin.

And I want the people who sign up to actually participate! Weirdly, paying a few dollars means you're more likely to participate.
